Needham Girls Soccer Team suspensions upheld in Court

White et als. v. Pizzi et als., Norfolk Superior Court No. NOCV 10-2003 (November 9, 2010).

When the Principal Jonathan Pizzi of Needham High School suspended several students from school and from the girls’ soccer team for a hazing incident, the students’ parents quickly filed a lawsuit seeking injunctive relief from the court that would allow the suspended students to participate in the upcoming playoff games. Attorney Rebecca Bryant appeared on behalf of Dr. Pizzi and the Needham Public Schools successfully argued that the students’ do not have a legal entitlement to participate in high school sports and that the school did not violate the students’ rights to due process.
